unit 2

1. List five purposes of the government.
To control
to make laws
to raise taxes
to control crime
to run our country

2. Would you be willing to join a revolution if our government was not fulfilling the purposes of government you listed above? Why? Why not?
probably not I’m not big on the protesting and fighting the law thing because I know they will win in the end so I don’t want to be on the negative side of something like that because it would just make things harder on me. But in the same sense I would want to help my country become better , but I am not willing to risk mine or my families safety to do so.

assignment 6:
George Washington's account of the Battle of Trenton-

well for one I've always known that they had a completely different dialect you could say back then, its hard to understand exactly what’s being said but overall Washington was talking about how the journey to Trenton was miserable and difficult and that they got the British to surrender and that most of the British solders were already gone to help in other battles. I believe they captured over 200 British solders in all.
It surprised me that they actually survived through that trip as cold and harsh as it was and still had the strength to win the war

Assignment 7: When Breaking the Law is Justified?

When is breaking the law justified? Consider whether or not the U.S. government has upheld their end of the deal since 1789. In some ways the government has held up their end of the deal, to a certain extent certain classes of people have been greatly affected by this as to others who probably know nothing about it.
American Revolution: Did the colonists have their natural rights? Not exactly, they may have thought they did but in my eyes they were still slaves to the government because most were afraid to speak out and say what they thought or believed in. What actions did the colonists take to make their own government that would uphold their rights? Slowly but surely people started to assemble together and rebel against the government until most if not all of their demands were met. Were the colonists justified in breaking the law? Yes, because they needed to do theses things so that it would be better for people everywhere further down the road but also no, because it caused a lot of issues within the government and caused them to become stronger and now they have like ultimate power between them all
20th Century: When since the American Revolution have Americans broken the law because they felt their rights were not being upheld by the U.S. government? Well I believe a lot of our countries issues started with George w. bush and his decisions to send us to fight in a war that was not ours to fight, it made our country look greedy and are making all of our citizens weaker because so many families are losing loved ones now many people are getting laid off because our country is running out of money. And in the past many rebelled over women and colored people not having the same rights as everybody else, then certain groups of people were not getting paid how they should have been
What actions did Americans have to take to make sure that the U.S. government was upholding their natural rights? Many times in the past we have rebelled, protested, vetoed and fought our own country due to them not holding up their end of the deal was this group of Americans justified in breaking the law? Yes, they did not believe that the government was being fair and holding up the deal so they did wheat they had to do to fight for our rights.
So all in all there are certain times when breaking the law is justified and it is very understandable that people do not feel like they have their natural rights. People have always tried to break the laws for one reason or another and they always will break laws but they have to be prepared to deal with the repercussions.
