1. What motivates immigrants to come to the United States (today)? Consider what they lose and what they can gain in your argument?
I believe most immigrants want to come to America to gain jobs,housing,health care, and even education.The only thing I cant think of that they would be losing is maybe their family or they heritage.I have heard that alot of people come to America because it is a free counrty.But with all the immigrants I think thats whats making are economy get worse. Because they will do the same work for less money and all the companies are just racking it in.So that all they regular citizens are suffering without jobs so our entire economy is failing.
2. Thousands of Europeans chose to move to the British colonies. Some for economic reasons and some for freedoms. If you decided to immigrate somewhere, would you move for economic reasons or for freedom?
I wouldnt leave this country if I had to. I understand that we are having some economy issues but I know we are in alot better shape than other places.
We are a free counrty to some extent,but at the same time we are suffering greatly over all the terrorism,depression,job losses.but no matter what happens I am a proud American and plan on standing behind my counrty until I have no other choice.
What did you learn about life in the colonies from reading this document?
I learned that many people were slaves but did not know that they were until they were older because they had such good lives.that some traveled around the world and had many adventures that women were under the husbands rule and had to obey them but they husbands had to treat them as there own flesh
- What surprised you the most about what you read?
that some men treated their wives badly because they could not do for them as others did nd did not bring large estates to the marriage
- Compare and contrast the differences between American life today and life for Americans during the colonial era.
back then their were slaves and they could not practice the religions they wanted to with out persecution and women had to stay at home and listen to men
now days they are no slaves but we have cheap labor workers and women are allowded to do whatever they please and you can believe and practice whatever you want with out being tormented

ReplyDeleteJust FYI, illegal immigrants are restricted from most good paying jobs because you need a social security number to get any legal job, and because of this illegal immigrants usually do the types of jobs that a lot of other people don't want. Our economy entered a recession because the banks (the extremely wealthy) were making bad loans. Good response to the second question. You are quite the patriot.
